Jalema is a tight organisation of enthusiastic people that are all involved in and committed to the business, its products and clients. This explains the success and the continuous growth of the organisation. All products and services of Jalema are key components for filing & finding documents and dossiers and for organising the workplace. The division Filing Systems develops, sells and installs user-oriented filing systems, while the division Office Supplies is responsible for an extensive range of desktop and office articles. The products of both divisions rank among the top of the market as far as quality, functionality, design and market focus is concerned.

Continuous growth
 

The small factory started by Jan, Leendert and Machiel (Ja-Le-Ma) Klopman in the twenties in Koog aan de Zaan, the Netherlands, has since then expanded into a large, successful and mature family business. In 1947 father and son Westendorff took over Jalema and established themselves in Steyl in the South of the Netherlands (Limburg). There they started the production of letter containers, filing bags, plastic folders and similar office articles. It soon turned out that the premises were too small and in 1952 Jalema moved to Reuver. 

 The big success was achieved in the late fifties through the idea to develop and produce sector-oriented filing systems on the basis of a unique concept: the lateral filing folder – hanging from one single point of suspension. The Dutch hospital sector was the first to switch over to the Jalema system in large numbers. The graphic industry soon followed suit. And nowadays, with already the third generation Westendorff at the wheel, Jalema is conquering new sectors all the time on the basis of carefully developed products with a strong user focus

International activities
 

Since 1981 there have been branches in French Briey (Jalema France SARL) and Belgian Brussels (NV Jalema SA). On 1 October 1992 a start was made with an own sales organisation in the United States (Jalema Inc.). Since the beginning of the nineties the step has been made towards the further internationalisation of the activities and Jalema products are currently marketed by reliable and carefully selected partners in over 40 countries.


Extensive range of time and space saving products
 

Jalema produces among others dossiers, filing folders and work folders with all the necessary accessories (e.g. label holders, colour coding systems, tab sheets, etc.). This takes place in the modern and well-equipped factory in Reuver. The product range further entails shelves, office closets, mobile racks, handy carts for moving dossiers around, rotating paternoster closets, roll-down office closets and systems to make existing office furniture mobile. All these products have been specifically developed to save time and space!
