The size of 36 football fields of trees disappear from the forest every minute. Imagine how many animals depend on that piece of forest or, think about the millions of people who live or work in the forest and we haven’t even mentioned the CO2 emissions that deforestation entails! On an annual basis, deforestation accounts for 15% of global CO2 emmisions. FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) is committed to responsible forest management worldwide. What FSC® does
By means of responsible forest management, FSC® ensures that the forests in our world can be preserved - Think for example of the local population, they live or work in the forest! FSC® ensures that the rights of the local population are respected. The plants and animals in the forest are also protected by FSC®. Also, the trees in a managed forest area have enough time to recover. The forests with great natural and cultural values are spared, no wood may be harvested here. FSC® focuses on harvesting wood and earning money but, with preservation of the forest.
